Business not showing on Google Maps? Causes and fixes

A business disappears from Google Maps for 1 of 7 causes: an unverified profile, edits under review, a suspension, a duplicate listing, a new listing still indexing, a hidden service-area address, or a ranking gap. Search your exact business name on Maps first. A listing that appears by name but not by category has a ranking gap, not a visibility fault. Match your symptom below to its fix.

Why is my business not showing up on Google Maps?

A business does not show on Google Maps for 1 of 7 reasons: the profile is unverified, edits are under review, the profile is suspended, a duplicate hides it, the listing is under a month old, the address is hidden, or it ranks too low.

Each cause rules out its own fix, checked in the order above. Most causes trace back to profile setup and review work covered in full by GBP management for Kansas City businesses.

How do I fix a Google Business Profile that is not showing?

Fix a hidden Google Business Profile in 7 checks: finish verification, check pending edits, look for a suspension notice, merge duplicates, complete the profile, confirm the hidden address, and test rankings from a customer’s location. Each check rules out 1 cause.

Finish verification

Step 1: Finish verification

Open the Business Profile dashboard and complete the pending verification method: postcard, phone, email or video. Google states that "only verified businesses can show their business info on Maps and Search."

Check for edits and age

Step 2: Check the status of pending edits

Open the profile's edit-status view and confirm no field shows "Pending." Profile edits usually take up to 10 minutes, and sometimes take up to 30 days, before they appear.

Check for a block

Step 3: Check for a suspension or disabled notice

Look for a "Suspended" or "Disabled" banner inside the dashboard, then check the appeals tool for a status of "Eligible for appeal" or "Can't be appealed." A suspended profile "won't show to other users on Google until you resolve the issue."

Check for duplicates

Step 4: Find and merge duplicate listings

Search Maps for a second profile at the same address, under an old name or a prior owner. Google hides a listing it considers a duplicate from Search and Maps; merging combines reviews, though replies to reviews can be lost in the merge.

Check age and completeness

Step 5: Complete the profile and wait out the first month

Fill every profile field: hours, services, photos and attributes. Google states that "rankings for new businesses can take up to a month to appear," separate from verification and edit review.

Check the address setting

Step 6: Confirm the hidden address is intentional

Confirm the address field is cleared on purpose, a setting reserved for service-area businesses that do not serve customers at their address. A hidden address removes the map pin only; the listing still appears in results.

Check the ranking gap

Step 7: Test your ranking from a customer's location

Search the main service and city, such as "roofer Olathe," instead of the exact business name. A listing found by name but absent from that search has a ranking gap, covered in full at how to rank higher on Google Maps, not a visibility fault.

Why is my business not showing up on Google Maps after verification?

A newly verified business stays hidden for up to a month, because Google states that rankings for new businesses take that long to appear. Pending edits add up to 30 days more, and a verification review takes up to 5 business days.

How do I know if my Google Business Profile is suspended?

Your Google Business Profile is suspended when the profile shows a "Suspended" or "Disabled" notice and the listing is absent from Maps for other users. Google's appeals tool then lists the profile as "Eligible for appeal" or "Can't be appealed."

"Suspended" means the profile is hidden from the public; owners can still edit and appeal. "Disabled" means the profile was disabled for quality violations. "Pending review" means no action is needed. The full Business Profile suspension and reinstatement guide covers the evidence Google asks for and the appeal steps.

Why is my Google Business Profile not showing up when I search for it?

A profile that appears for its exact business name but not for its service is visible and ranking low, not missing. Google ranks by relevance, distance and prominence, so a search for "plumber" from 15 miles away returns closer, better-reviewed competitors first.

Two searches separate a visibility fault from a ranking gap.

Why is my business not pinned on Google Maps?

A business has no pin on Google Maps when its address is hidden, which Google requires for service-area businesses that do not serve customers at their address. The listing still appears in Maps results and ranks from the verified address.

Google Maps listing questions

Why is my business not publicly visible on Google Maps?

A Google Business Profile is not publicly visible until verification is complete, and it stops being visible while suspended or disabled. Google states that only verified businesses show their business info on Maps and Search.

How long does Google Business Profile verification take?

Google Business Profile verification reviews take up to 5 business days. Postcard codes arrive within 14 days in most cases and expire after 30 days. Video verification skips the mail wait where Google offers it.

Why are my business hours not showing up on Google?

Business hours do not show when the hours edit is still under review, when the business is marked appointment-only, or when special hours override regular hours for a holiday. Google's guidelines exclude hours for appointment-only businesses.
